What is 3D printing?
Also referred to as additive manufacturing, 3D printing is a process in which objects are produced by adding material in layers in cross-sections of a 3D model. Plastics and metal alloys are most commonly used, however, the possibilities are endless as there are examples of concrete and living tissue prints!
How can I use 3D printing?
Prototyping: Used for visual aids, mockups, television and film models.
Limited production parts: More cost effective at producing low volume or custom parts.
Lightweight parts: Fuel efficiency and reduction of emissions are the main focus of lightweight parts production via 3D printing in the aerospace and automotive industries.
Medical: Implants that mimic real bone structure, skin, cells and organic tissue, prosthetics.
